SoundAnchor overview

SoundAnchor is a lightweight app that lives in your Mac’s toolbar and gives you full control over microphone priorities. You can reorder your input devices based on your preference, and the topmost available device will always be forced as the system's default input.

When you connect your AirPods to a MacBook, they automatically switch the system’s default input to their internal microphone. Not only is the mic quality poor, but this behavior also reduces the overall audio quality of the AirPods.

What's new in version 1.8.1

Adding possibility to create a "multi-device" aggregate. You can use this function to listen together on two headphones at the same time.
Adding a volume slider and microphone gain slider.
Splitting input/output into tabs for better UX.
You can now ignore devices and not see them in the device list anymore.
